I have tried all I could to hide my true feelings about my locks, but I could no longer hide it. I am really big on parts and so many other things I can go on about. But I am excited to announce my new rebirth day! My appointment for my re-installation of sisterlocks will be March 6, 2010. This picture will probably be the last showing my first install of sisterlocks.
I plan on loosing each lock, instead of doing the big chop. My sister-in-laws, cousin and daughter have agreed to help. :) I was able (TYL) to find some helpful information @ http://www.dreadlocks.org/ that included tips on how to unravel your locks. So I will keep you posted with updates on how my journey will continue. If I could love crooked sisterlocks with all types of issues, then watch out for the upcoming...love. It's actually going to be a little hard for me to part with them, but I know that it's something I need to do. Besides the going back & forth my husband was sitting behind me in church last Wednesday night and came up to me after service. He tells me that I should get my hair redone by the lady who did
our daughter's hair. Well that was it for me! I absolutely love the way my daughters hair is done, but honestly (my consultant can attest to this) I have had concerns when I came to her.
Again I am excited & grateful to see where this journey will go! Locking on~

I'm glad your story has a 'happy ending'.
Good luck with the next stage of your journey :)
Sometimes you gotta do what makes you happy. Maybe I will get the courage to start over one day, but I'm tyring to hang in there. I just love the length so much. My parting is fine, it's just that some of my locks have some imperfections, lol. I figure in another 3 years I will trim off the imperfections and still have great length.
Anyhow I wish you peace and patience on taking down your locks, and I look forward to your new journey.
Take Care
Wow! This is something that I think about when I am looking at the new installs and how precise the parting is. I started mine with the braidlocks, so sometimes, I wish I could start over with a certified and highly experienced sisterlock consultant. Congratulations for making that decision. That takes a lot of courage to start over again. I can't wait to see the updates and the new install!
Thanks ladies for encouraging the journey. I will definately need the patience and endurance. To: The Real Nique, I know what you mean about the preciseness of the parts. I really like neat parts. (Not something you ladies have to worry about!) On top of that my "unique"(sarcastically speaking) sisterlocks are installed backwards. Large ones are in the front and tiny ones are in the back. Yet I still enjoyed them. So I pray (sincerely) that my new and TRUE sisterlocks are beautiful. To Brown ButtahFly: I could handle a few imperfections, but I have some issues that I can't trim away girly! :) To: Everyone, your locks are truly beautiful and unique. Thanks again for your comments & encouragement. I look forward to posting pics of the NEW and TRUE SL's! Much Love! Lock ON!
You are so beautiful! I didn't notice anything about your hair until I read the story. Having said that, I hope you are doing what makes you happy. Many blessings on your journey.
Thank you so much, Naturally Sophia. Unfortunately, we can be our own worst critic. Trust me though if you saw it in person you would see what I'm talking about. My sister-in-law & I were taking them down last night. She was asking me about the parts. She explained to me that in the middle towards the top of my head where we started, that it looked like hair was just grabbed and locked. Some are large, some are medium but they were not parted. My thing is if I was doing someone else's hair, I would try to do my very best. Even if I felt like no one would ever see the top of my clients head, each part still DOES matter. You just don't know what style they may get. Besides that honesty is the best policy. Thanks again for the comment.
~The purpose of SL's is to wear YOUR natural hair with confidence. I should not have to worry about what style to put it in because I have a huge lock sticking out, right beside a tiny one with a crooked part beneath it...mmm. That was something I did not worry about with micros and I shouldn't have to be concerned with that, especially now!
