Don't try THIS at home...

~ OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MATTER! OH my!!!!!!!!!  This ordeal of loosing my sisterlocks has been absolutely insane.  It is EXTREMELY time consuming.  Check this out, I am ALMOST---HALFway there!!!!!  Can you believe that?  My sister-in-law and I have been working on them together.  I have also been working on them alone.  We have succesfully loosed 97 or so sisterlocks within approxiamately 12 hours.  This is no joke people!!!  So of course I had to reschedule my appointment.  My consultant prefers starting fresh from scratch, instead of doing just half of my head.  I must say that I do agree with her.  The locks in the rear are very small so hopefully I will be able to take them out without any added problems/complications.   I really had no idea how difficult this would be.  I guess this is definately a time where my patience will be tried.  I have about 227 more sisterlocks to loose.  I have 9 days off before my now "new" install appointment date.  I will not reveal the date because I will be extremely upset & dissappointed if for any reason I have not successfully  completed this task by then, although I will keep you posted.
The locks are intermittently placed large, medium and small.  The parts are very crooked, so this all motivates me to continue to press on.  It takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes (give or take) to loose ONE lock, depending on what size you get.
So in the meantime I purchased a wig to wear to work.  It happened to be straight hair with highlights in it.  The colors were nice, but I am absolutely THROUGH with fake hair.  It felt awful.  I felt very uncomfortable wearing it.  I can't really explain it.  I felt like I was walking around with a clown on my head.  I know it may sound funny, but it really annoyed me.  So I have decided to wear stylish caps to work.  You know the kind that traditional lock wearers use to capture their locks.  Something like a lock sock to hide where I haven't finished, but stylish enough to still match my scrubs and look professional and presentable.  But as for a wig, I just can't do it.  Everyone is different, and I am not knocking those that do.  I just know it makes ME feel like a fish out of water in a desert somewhere stuck in a cactus.  I guess I will post pics later.  (Lord help me!)

Besides that, check out my daughter's Sisterlocks.  They are coming along beautifully!  She is still loving them! The braidout style is her absolute favorite. I am so happy for her journey and self love!
She also wears it up too!
In this pic she is being rewarded as a TERRIFIC KID in school.  We are so very proud of her. She is so sweet, polite, smart and very much a kid.  As always, every kid still needs discipline and guidance.(Staight A's, Girl Scouts, Math Wizards, Star Performers, gymnastics, basketball, chorus, junior church secretary & usher.)

HEY SCRAP EVANGEL! THANKS FOR THE COMMENT/COMPLIMENT. 1ST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO VISIT THE OFFICIAL SISTERLOCKS WEBSITE: www.sisterlocks.com. There you will find out what you need to do to become a certified consultant. Classes are held different times of the year & in different states. If you decide not to become a consultant you could find different consultants or trainees in your area! I hope we have some future sisters.....locked!

I felt this same pain getting my locks taken down and redone. It took maybe 50 hours to get them out and I could not manage to do them myself. My new consultant took them out and redid them. Very costly!

Girrrrrlllllllllll you know my pain!!!!!!! Are you happy withe results? Was your hair thinner after it was done. Oh my we must chat I have soooo many questions!!!!!!

I responded to you on my page but also to answer your question whether my hair was thinner. Not at all, my hair is very thick and dense maybe that's why I can'tell. I did lose some but not enough to notice. Kinda like when you get braids and take em out and you have that ball of hair that you comb out. I thought I read that you were getting yours redone this week?

I would have loved to have them re-done this week, except I still have a ways to go. I have an EXTREMELY busy schedule so I really don't have the time to devote to taking them out like I should. I did call my consultant on Sat just to let her know my progress. We have been keeping in touch along this journey. This is really taking a long time. I am trying to stay motivated. There are times where I want to cut it off, but I have came so far. In the end I know that I will be happier if I would just be patient. Whew~ it's rough though. Are there any special tools/tips/products that your consultant used to take yours down?

I typed a response to your question about products or tools she used to get them out. But I guess the comment did not save. My consultant used a crochet needle and no product to remove the locks but she only took down a few rows at a time, so I had to walk around with new locks and old locks for about a month until all was done and I had an interview!! Thank goodness it was an internal interview and everyone already knew me and I got the job:)

Between work, school, home, hubby, the kids and the new baby, my hair is still not done. I like the idea of using a crochet needle to unloose them. I definately will have to purchase one. I am using a braid release spray and the ingredients have jojoba oil and rosemary in it. I also want to say congratulations on the new position. Thank God they have common sense, wisdom, an eye for beauty and respect when it comes to natural hair. Thanks for all of your info girly. Your locks were beautiful before, they are just GORGEOUS (gooooojuss) now!!! Take Care and Lock On my fellow ladybutterfly!
