WOW, BEAUTIFUL KINDNESS from such an excellent consultant.
WOW!!! I have to take a moment to write about my consultant Donna Lewis. There is so much I want to say but I did not know where to start. Let me explain what I mean exactly. I have saved blog drafts in the past, but decided not to post them, because in it I would express my frustrations and disappointments for how things turned out with my FIRST trainee consultant (whose name I will of course not mention.) I am a firm believer in saying what you mean to the person directly. But today I will blog about what I encountered that led me up to my experiences with Donna, which has been excellent! I will also briefly explain what she has done for me and today my family.
When I started going to Donna it was last year on the day of my husband's job Christmas Party. I needed a re tightening from here to Kalamazoo since my first installation occurred nearly 10 weeks prior. She told me to come over so that she could give me a hairstyle for the night. I was so nervous because I was expecting to make an appointment with her the following week to get re tightened. She said not to worry and to pay her...LATER. Well I had to swallow some serious pride. I called her about 3 more times after that trying to explain that I felt more comfortable to see her next week. I was quickly resorting to wearing my wig that I had worn for the past 2 months in process of getting my SL's done. To make a long story a little shorter, I am glad that I finally went. She showed me what to do with different products, how to style it and she even re tightened my entire head in about 2 hours. I was absolutely shocked. I still had enough time to get dressed and have one of the most memorable weekends I could ever remember. I didnt look too bad. It was the first time any wife at my hubby's job showed up in... locks. I felt confident, comfortable and finally truly "relaxed." So ever since, Donna has been my consultant. But today folks has topped it off!!!
SHE IS INSTALLING MY DAUGHTERS SISTERLOCKS FOR...FREE. Donna states that my daughter will be her first child & she always wanted to do her 1st child for free. I am floored and truly amazed! When she explained this to me a few weeks ago I felt so grateful for having such a wonderful consultant. I pray that her little poster child brings her much success and business. And yes I did have a much needed, pleasant yet honest, not sugar coated conversation with my prior consultant. I did encourage her to continue, because everyone has their struggles as well as their strengths and potentials. I even told her to call Donna for tips on speed because we can never learn too much. Everything happens for a reason, & what comes around really does go around. We all just have to take a moment to say thank you.

My Daughter is Getting Sisterlocks!!!
I am excited to announce that my ten year old daughter will be getting Sisterlocks tomorrow, 12-12-09. I am so happy for her. This is something that she has been wanting for a while. And as her mother I have been watching and listening closely to how she feels about and views natural hair. I wanted to watch her reaction to comments made by people, family or peers that may all together NOT like or understand wearing locks or having your hair natural. To my pleasant surprise she is very mature in her personal feelings about natural hair. She ignores negative remarks. She is constantly asking questions or looking up info about the damage that relaxers has on your hair. Of course me loving my sisterlocks has had a positive impact on her, it's good to know that she is not wavering in her decision. She has seen 1st hand the damage that relaxers have, with young girls her age by how much breakage chemicals cause. I'm talking hair almost elbow length that was thick and healthy to now thin, unhealthy, and can barely fit into a rubber band. Her wanting sisterlocks is a decision that she has stuck to for nearly two years now. It started back in late 2007 when I was surfing the web about sisterlock info. Can't wait to post pics of her SL's. Here is a picture of her this summer with her hair hot combed and pressed. She has never had a relaxer in her hair. The only chemical that she has had was a texturizer I applied to her hair when she was six years old. I regret doing even that because I can see how it too even damaged her hair. It turned out very pretty, but later on you could see the difference. Not as intensely as a relaxer but it did make a difference overall in her texture. Her texture was so much curlier and prettier before. She still has a beautiful texture and it has completely grown out/washed out. Texturizers are a lot easier to grow or wash out than any relaxer. Overall her hair is very easy to manage and is extremely soft and curly. Of course my middle daughter says she wants SL's too, but she states that she does not want anyone to think she is copying them. ~hmm... I'll wait until she turns ten just to make sure she realizes that this is not only a hairstyle but it's a committment and a lifestyle change. Can't wait to post some new pics of my daughters new sisterlocks.
