Last weekend the family and I were able to spend some time together at a Memorial Park. The weather was absolutely beautiful. It was about 90 degrees, the sun was shining bright, the clouds were blowing with the gusts of cool breeze. So usually when its windy out I don't try to fight against it blowing in my hair. I have always felt that hair should be able to withstand or be in the weather. Whether it may be heat, humidity, rain, snow, hail or wind, hair is hair. Of course we must protect it just like we must protect our bodies when the weather is SEVERE. But I must admit that it urkes my nerves when I see my fellow sisters AFRAID to walk out in the rain or wearing a plastic bag over their head in the wind or rain for that matter. Now I'm not talking about a thunderstorm or an extreme heavy rainfall. I'm talking about a light to even steady rainfall and oh my, time for hair drama!!! The message is so embarrassing. What are we saying about our hair hygiene? We can wash our bodies but... alrighty enough said. I'm sure you remember the telephone commercial a few years ago when the girl was so angry to walk out in the rain. She was so ANGRY because she just had her hair (did!) Whenever I'm in or around that situation I usually just ignore the drama and just walk out in the rain. I did this even when I had a relaxer, and trust me I did not melt and neither did my hair for that matter. There was ABSOLUTELY no damage done. Just dry it, style it, and if needed re-do the style completely. As far as how did my hair hold up in the wind? Much to my satisfaction my sisterlocks were whipped left and right, forward and backward and was still able to keep the same up style that I started out with. When I went to the bathroom to remove the THREE bobby pins that I had in my hair, I took a step back. I was actually a little shocked! There was no need to redo the style at all. I mean the wind was REALLY blowing out there. That's the freedom you too can have with sisterlocks. They are convenient, natural, lovely and above all it's YOUR HAIR. There is no need of whipping it straight because it got out of line according to the bone straight standards. So you can welcome humidity, heat, wind, rain, and cold. That won't be a problem! All in all we had a wonderful family time. Both of my girls will be getting sisterlocks one day. I am so excited. They are asking us for them all of the time. And yes we are having another...girl!!! I am pretty sure she will have sisterlocks too. It is so liberating to have sisterlocks, (pun on words.) I really like it when they say, "I got free when I got locked up." Yet, it's the truth. You can just go out and be yourself completely, which is such a good feeling. Well take care for now. Thanks for stopping by and stay encouraged to Lock on!

In Remembrance of 911

How tragic the memories we hold dear of 9/1/1. It was sad, scary and overall devastating, but somehow we came together as a people and a country. Just to look at how divided this country is now is truly sad. Hopefully we can come together again without the cause of another tragic event. The only good news is that we are yet standing, yet striving and most of all yet alive! Hopefully we can stop arguing over principles that were so well said to our children about staying in school by our President Obama, and realize that some of us truly need deliverance from hatred and mere prejudice. Hopefully we can in turn circulate a spirit of love, and offer a smile to those that are allowing hatred and bitterness to eat them like a cancer. I don't know if you the reader was able to see the Baptist pastor that prayed Obama would be killed this past week on CNN, but it was truly sad. We have to keep our leaders and their family in our sincere prayers. There are truly some sick people in this world. As I forestated earlier, just show love. In addition to that please voice the truth don't argue it, and continue to LOCK ON!~ By the way when I say lock on that means stay strong in who you are, your purpose, your beliefs, your faith, your calling and always step out rockin' those locks. ~Peace out
